Banjo fitting is a fluid connector consisting of a hollow bolt, a banjo and or seal ring(o-ring, washer or metal seal) for fluid transfer. The bolt is assembled through the center of the banjo, usually with different face seals on either side of the banjo, to create a fluid path between the external ports on the banjo and bolt. A flexible hose, seamless steel tube or a rigid pipe may be connected to the Banjo body, the bolt is used to connect the internal threaded hydraulic component(reference is from Wikipedia).
The main advantage of banjo fitting is, it allows the pipe exit direction to be adjusted relative to the banjo fitting. It avoids damage, which can be caused by twisting the hose or pipe during installation.
Construction types of banjo fittings:
Brake line, diesel fuel line and centralized lubrication system banjo fittings construction, it design the copper crush washers in the gap between the sphere banjo fitting and body of hydraulic component completes the seal.
Hydraulic banjo fittings is designed construction types for very light (63 to 100 bar), light(100bar, 160 bar, 250 bar, 315 bar ), heavy series pressure ( up to 420 bar) as follows, there are metal sealing, O-ring and soft sealing ring type of KDS, O-ring and DKA sealing ring, different shapes as parker banjo fittings:
The reference standards of banjo fittings as follows:
DIN 7642 standard banjo fitting shape form b and e.
DIN 7643 standard banjo bolts hexagon hollow screw.
Company standards such as Parker Eaton Rastelli etc forged banjo fittings and improved banjo bolts.
