You should know" DIN 3870 vs ISO 8434-1 tube nut"


History of DIN 3870 and ISO 8434-1 tube nut

DIN is Deutsches Institut für Normungo and was found in 1917(see more info from the link https://www.din.de/en/din-and-our-partners/din-e-v ), it is designed with metric thread of tube nut for 24 degree cone tube connector, the first version of DIN 3870 in 1954, it is non-soldering and soldering compression fittings-union nuts series LL, the versions has 1954-1, 1957-05,1961-08,1965-09,1983-01,1985-05.DIN 3870 2001-09 newest version updated the specifications for S and L series coupling nuts, and for type A nuts for use with cutting rings as in DIN 3861, and 24°cone metric couplings as in DIN 3865 (excluding series LL 3 and LL 1 6 fittings) are now given in DIN EN ISO 8434-1 .


ISO is the International Organization for Standardization and was found in 1947, adherence to the World Trade Organization (WTO) principles for product, process, services, person, system or body, meet technical specifications (TS), publicly available specifications(PAS), international workshop agreements(IWA), see the link: www.iso.org/iso/foreword.html for servicing technical barriers to trade.ISO 8434-1 standard has 1994, 2007 and the newest version of 2018. It is was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 131, Fluid power systems, Subcommittee SC 4, Connectors and similar products and components.


ISO 8434-1 is most popular technical standard in worldwide trade business of tube fittings, define the requirement of the metallic tube connections for fluid power and general use part 1: 24°cone connectors.


Metric tube nut difference of dimensions between DIN 3870 and ISO 8434-1

It is covered by ISO 8434-1 standard, excluding LL 3 and 5, also not form B for DIN 3863 (few used in international trade), LL from 6 to 42 is revised to L in ISO 8434-1 standard.


ISO 8434-1 standard of Tube nut sizes, perfect LL series of 8 10 and 12, change LL of DIN 3870 into L of ISO 8431, add S series of 6 to 38.

1,Cutting ring (ferrule) usage for connecting hydraulic tube connection of ISO 8434-1 and DIN 3861(1 is body, 2 is tube nut, 3 is cutting ring)



2,Thrust-wire nut usage for swivel o-ring end of tube fittings of ISO 8434-1


3、Nut for clamping the hose fittings(ISO 12151-2 ) and nipple of ISO 8434-4
